What is not allowed?

Our Acceptable Use Policy prohibits, among other things, Content and conduct that:

  • is hate speech: Content intended to vilify, humiliate, dehumanize, exclude, attack, threaten, or incite hatred, fear of, or violence against a group or individual based on race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, caste, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, serious disease, veteran status or any other protected characteristic;
  • stalks, bullies, abuses, harasses, threatens or intimidates anyone, including repeated unwanted contact and sexual comments or Content sent to someone who has not asked for it;
  • is illegal, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, threatening or harassing, or encourages or promotes violence or any illegal activity;
  • shares someone else's personal or confidential information, such as their address, phone number, location, identity documents or financial details, without their permission;
  • shows or refers to firearms or other weapons being used in a threatening or violent way.

Context matters, and our reviewers take it into account.

How does PlayHouse find this content?

We rely on reports from our community, reviewed by our trust and safety team. Every report opens a review case. Several reports about the same Content raise its priority, and while Content is under review we take it out of discovery areas such as Explore.

Uploaded images and videos are also checked automatically for some categories of harmful material, such as violent imagery, weapons and offensive symbols, and anything flagged goes to a reviewer.

Can PlayHouse see direct messages?

Yes, when we need to. PlayHouse does not use end-to-end encryption. Messages and media are stored on our systems, and our trust and safety team can review and remove them at any time. There are no hidden areas or disappearing messages on PlayHouse.

How do I report it?

Every post, profile, story, comment, message, conversation, livestream and video call on PlayHouse has a Report option. Choose the reason that fits best, for example Harassment or threats (on a livestream, Hate or harassment), or Something else.

If you are not signed in, use our contact form, choose Report illegal or harmful content, and include the username and a link to what you saw.

We confirm that we have received your report, and we tell you the outcome once we have reviewed it.

How can I control who contacts me?

  • Block. Anyone can block another user. Blocking stops them chatting with you. You can see and manage the accounts you have blocked at Settings → Blocked accounts.
  • Choose who can message you. Creators choose who can send them messages: everyone, followers and subscribers, or subscribers only.

What happens when we find a violation?

Depending on how serious the violation is and the account's history, we may:

  • remove the Content;
  • restrict it, so that it is marked sensitive and removed from discovery;
  • warn the account;
  • stop a livestream or end a video call in progress;
  • suspend or permanently ban the account, and hold its earnings while we investigate.

If we act on your Content or account, we send you a statement of our reasons, including what we decided, why, and how to appeal. You can appeal a decision on your Content at /moderation-appeal, or a decision on your account at /appeal. Appeals are decided by someone who was not involved in the original decision. See our Appeals Policy.

What if someone's life or safety is at risk?

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first. Then report the Content to us.

Reports and Content that suggest a threat to someone's life or safety are escalated immediately to a senior member of our trust and safety team. Where we become aware of information that gives rise to a suspicion that a criminal offense involving a threat to the life or safety of a person has taken place, is taking place or is likely to take place, we promptly inform the relevant law-enforcement or judicial authorities and give them the information we have, including, for people in the European Union, the authorities of the Member State concerned as the Digital Services Act requires. Law enforcement can contact us through our legal request form; see Assisting Law Enforcement.
