How do messages work?
Choose Messages to see your conversations, then choose one to open the chat. To start a new conversation, message a creator from their profile.
Send a message
Type in the box at the bottom and choose Send. Choose the + button to add more:
- Photo or video: up to 10 at once;
- Document: PDF and other files, up to 25 MB;
- Voice note: up to 2 minutes. You can also tap the microphone next to the text box to record one.
Fans also see Tip (with the creator's name) and, when a creator offers them, VIP messages. Creators also see Locked media and Request a tip. See How do I send a tip? and What are VIP messages?
You can't edit or delete a message after you send it, so check it before you send.
To see photos and videos in messages, you need to have confirmed you're 18 or over. See Who can use PlayHouse?
Message rules
- Fans may not send explicit photos or videos of themselves unless they've completed creator verification or our release form.
- Write your own messages. Using an AI chatbot or other automated tool to write chats or messages isn't allowed.
- Keep payments on PlayHouse. See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full rules.
See if your message was read
Seen appears under your last message once the other person has read it.
Find a conversation
Use Search messages at the top of your inbox. The All, Unread and VIP filters narrow the list. Creators also have a Hidden filter.
Chat options
Open a chat and choose the Conversation options button (three dots) to:
- View profile;
- Mute the chat, so you get no notifications from it;
- Hide conversation, which takes it out of your inbox until a new message arrives;
- Block the person, so neither of you can message the other; or
- Report the chat to our safety team.
To report a single message, right-click it (on a computer) or press and hold it (on your phone), then choose a reason and Send report. The person isn't told who reported them, and we let you know the outcome.
